The Month in Film: October 2012
Wow was October ambitious. I vowed to watch 31 films for Halloween and I got through 29 (sorry, The Pit and House will have to be on hold). The schedule I put up appeared to be non-existent by the end but hey, I got through it. I watched far more than last month and I did hold over eight films from September since I put up September’s Month in Film early so those films won’t count in the final numbers although I will mention them if they’re worth mentioning. My final Halloween review will be up this afternoon so let’s look at this crazy month of October.

Top 5 Favorite Classic Films of the Month:
1. I Married a Witch (did you expect less?)
2. Cat People
3. Bride of Frankenstein
4. Blithe Spirit
5. The Shining
Favorite Theatrical Film of the Month: It was hard but I’d say the edge goes to The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Easily one of the best teen films out there with amazing performances. Running a close second is Seven Psychopaths.
Worst Film of the Month: Dark Shadows for the home market and Sinister for the theatrical set
Biggest Disappointment of the Month: Either Angel Heart or The Brood because of how high my expectations were considering how much praise I’d heard about them.
Biggest Surprise of the Month: Easily Seeking a Friend for the End of the World. I’m not sure what it was that made me enjoy this even more on a rewatch but it’s a poignant and stark look at the world’s end with sweet characters I recommend you check out.
Movies Worth Seeking Out: Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, Moonrise Kingdom, I Married a Witch, Cat People, Bride of Frankenstein
