The Lake Update for May 2013 (With Blogathon Info!)
Finally, an update that isn’t simply an addendum to the end of the News From the Lake! Well this is just a brief update alerting you fine readers to what’s going on with the site this month. I’ll be discussing some upcoming things including asking for volunteers for my upcoming summer blogathon!
With summer starting up in three weeks look for posts to start coming out with a vengeance! I’ve amassed quite a trove of DVDs that I’m hoping to get reviewed for you folks, including crossing off some TCM Top Twelve selections. With that, the reviews should come out daily (barring I decide to go out into the sunlight and have a life), possibly twice a day if I’m really on a roll. I’ll be entering the 1990s and Disney‘s Renaissance by the end of the month and expect back-to-back hits there (I’m happy to get into the classics I grew up with) I’m going to be doing a few upcoming series over at The Cinematic Katzenjammer this summer so be sure to bookmark their site; look for My Summer With Sparks, Hate ‘Em With Tatum, and Holy Zefferelli (yes, I came up with all those titles myself). I’ll also be posting up a series of reviews of actress Jane Withers‘ filmography in anticipation of an interview with the actress that will be going up soon. It was truly fantastic to speak to her and I hope you all enjoy the interview.
In other news, I’m announcing my second-ever blogathon and am asking for contributors. The fantastic Pat of 100 Years of Movies and I will be pairing up to host:
I know it says 100 Years of Film (if Pat is reading this) but that’s a temporary ad – because the revised one mysteriously got deleted – and expect official banners to come out soon. The “What Price Hollywood” Blogathon is in honor of everything Hollywood from the movies about it, to the film industry that’s created it. The blogathon will be sometime in July, and right now we’re gauging interest; so if you have a blog (or if you don’t I’d be happy to host individual posts) please leave a comment or email me at JourneysinClassicFilm.com. Look forward to seeing a few friends, new and old, join in.
Well that about wraps it up for this month. Here’s to another fantastic month of journeying into classic film! See you all soon!

I’m definitely in for the “What Price Hollywood” Kristen!! I’ll be back with a definite topic soon. All the instant ideas that occur to me I’ve already blogged about. GREAT TOPIC!!

Awesome, look forward to hearing your topic! I have you written down in the official sign-ups!
I’m in, Kristen! The more blogathons, the more fun!
Kisses!
Awesome! Get back to me with a topic when you can. You’re put on the list!
Uh, apparently I have both forgot for a while about the blogathon and the comment I sent from my cellphone didn’t get here. Anyway, I’d like to write about the lovely and classy cartoon Cats don’t dance (1997). I don’t know if you are a cat lover or a dog lover, but for me there is no better thing than cats dancing into stardom in 1939 Hollywood.
Kisses!
You’re all set!
Hi Kristin, I’d like to do “The Jazz Singer” if it’s not spoken for already.
You’re officially down for The Jazz Singer! Thanks for signing up!
