The Lake Update for July

LakeUpdate

July went from a relatively quite month on the blog to a roaring month filled with craziness.  In this month’s report I’ll discuss a few things that you might want to check out.

To those wondering about the What Price Hollywood? Blogathon.  I regret to say it doesn’t appear to be happening.  Fellow co-host Pat and I have been so busy with other items that I don’t think proper advertising and set-up can be done in time; especially once I get into my Summer Under the Stars series.  If you’ve already written something for the blogathon please don’t hesitate to send me a link and I’ll be happy to advertise it.

With that, July is all about the July 5, a prelude to my Summer Under the Stars series.  For the next five weeks, I’ll be devoting a week to one star/director and their films.  All this will lead into the twenty stars I’ll be featuring as part of my Summer Under the Stars series in August.  Who are the lucky five we’ll be exploring this month:

July 1st-5th:  Joan Crawford

July 8th-12th: Cary Grant

July 15th-19th: Marlene Dietrich

July 22nd-26th: Busby Berkeley

July 29th-August 2nd: William Powell and Myrna Loy

I’ll announce the twenty stars for my Summer Under the Stars series in August’s Lake Update.  With that, the next week or so will see up to three reviews in a day and I will be on regular schedule with Monday’s book reviews and Saturday’s Disney Vault series.

Speaking of Journeys in the Disney Vault; it’s been a wild ride but all good things must come to an end, and I have set a date for the conclusion of my ongoing Disney series.  I never believed I’d get as far as I have, or that I’ll have officially seen every animated Disney film.  The fates have lined up perfectly and I’ll be right in time to see Disney’s latest animated offering, Frozen as the final film in the series; a final wrap-up and conclusion will be done and the series will end December 7th.  It’ll be a bittersweet ending, but I’ll admit, I’m happy to be taking a Disney break.

Also, I’ll be doing another tournament with the fantastic Monty of All Good Things.  His coveted Lombard Cup series returns and I’ve been tasked with heading up Team Veronica.  I’ll give out more info about that at a later date.

It’ll be a busy month as I try to cram in as many movies as I can before summer closes.  A lot of excitement yet to come!
