Veronica Inductees for July 2014

And another pair of actors get rewarded with a Veronica this month and placement in the Hall of Fame. Be sure to check out the Veronicas section at the top of the page for past winners and links to all past reviews.

Dana Andrews is the quintessential everyman; a man whose starred in, and succeeded, in practically every genre including film noir and musicals! The five movies that secured his win are The Ox-Bow Incident, Daisy Kenyon, Where the Sidewalk Ends, Laura, and State Fair. Since his win, I’ve reviewed two additional movies (The Last Tycoon and Up in Arms).

And our female winner is the lovely Celeste Holm. I’ve given Celeste a bit of leeway; if the work is of significant value in popular culture or greatly affected me, I’ll consider it as a nominating feature. Essentially, this allows an actor/actress to gain a qualifying nod with TV show or movie. In this case, Celeste Holm garnered a fourth and fifth nomination with a TV movie (Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella) and a voice-over role (A Letter to Three Wives). Her other qualifying movies are: All About Eve, Come to the Stable and Gentleman’s Agreement.
