The Lake Update for December 2014

As you’re reading this I’m currently on vacation in Disneyland (if you see me, say hi, but mention you’re a blog reader so I don’t think you’re just an overly happy Disneyland fan). As I’ve documented in past Lake Updates, I need a break from life. The blog’s really stuck to that Monday/Wednesday/Friday schedule thanks to pre-written reviews carried over from my other classic film writing duties at Awards Circuit and ClassicFlix, and with that I’ve been fortunate to have time for exclusive reviews of movies I’ve avoided for months.

Suffice it to say I’m fairly exhausted from writing, and while I’m not going to stop writing entirely (we’re knee-deep in awards season people!), I’m taking a bit of a breather from Journeys in Classic Film for the month of December. the blog ISN’T shutting down or anything; 25 Days of Christmas is alive and well and you’ll see daily Christmas reviews – from Christmases past – everyday here leading up to Christmas. And because I love you, I’m also going to post two new Christmas reviews for you of modern-day remakes of classic Christmas films: 1994’s Miracle on 34th Street and 1996’s The Preacher’s Wife which will cap off Christmas Eve and Day. And I’ll still be keeping you posted on what’s new in the classic film world every Wednesday in News From the Lake. Oh, and don’t forget, as January seeps closer, to check back as I count down the 20 Best and Worst Classic Films I reviewed this year. Okay, so it’s not a hiatus, per se, but it is a break.

Once the New Year rolls around – and barring I passed that damn test – I’ll be prepping for another year of TCMFF coverage for you as well as creating more content for the Kristen ReCasts… series and Biopic Theater. We’ll also see the return of book reviews and the much ignored Mint in the Box series. As always, none of these plans would be anything without you kind readers, so if you have anything you want to see on the site PLEASE let me know via the comment section, Facebook and Twitter, and email. I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving, and even better holiday season!
