News in a nutshell: getTV announces additional programming over the next month, celebrate 100 years of Technicolor at an upcoming Los Angeles event, and what’s new on DVD and Blu.

getTV wants to honor mother’s everywhere with special programming in honor of Mother’s Day on May 10th. The tribute kicks off at 9:30am ET with 1949’s Baby Makes Three. After that, stay tuned for Claudette Colbert in She Married Her Boss (1935), Lady By Choice (1935), The Lady Is Willing (1935) and Ladies of the Chorus (1948).

Those of you in Los Angeles suffering from post-TCMFF malaise, might want to stop by The Crest Theatre in Westwood where the 14th Annual Dance Media Festival will be honoring The Unfinished Dance (1947) starring Cyd Charisse and Margaret O’Brien; the film will be playing in tribute of the 100th Anniversary of Technicolor. The film starts at 4:30pm and kicks off four days of films celebrating dance and movement. Tickets for the film itself cost $15 but if you’re interested in attending, leave a message in the comments for a chance to WIN complimentary tickets courtesy of Journeys in Classic Film!

Also worth checking out in Los Angeles this weekend is a Bette Davis/Paul Henreid double feature at the Aero Theatre. The American Cinematheque will be screening Davis and Henreid’s first and last film’s together, Now, Voyager (1942) and Dead Ringer (1964) starting at 7:30pm on Saturday, April 25th. On hand between films will be Henreid’s daughter, Monika, discussing the films and her father’s pairing with Davis. Full details on the event can be found at The American Cinematheque website. She’s working towards detailing her father’s life both in a book and cinematic format but needs your help to bring it to completion.

New on DVD and Blu-ray

Criterion: Criterion continues re-releasing out-of-print titles onto Blu-ray, and they’ve just announced The Killers will be available on a 2-disc DVD and single disc Blu on July 7th. Much like the original release in 2003, this upgraded version will contain both the 1946 original and 1964 remake. Bonus features include interviews, Screen Director’s Playhouse radio adaptation, and more.
