The Lake Update for April 2016

You may have noticed the lack of timely posts on the site of late. While partly due to my general procrastination and amount of content I have to sift  through for three different sites, there’s a lot going on behind the scenes I’m eager to share with you!

Starting April 27th you can find my coverage of the 2016 TCM Classic Film Festival. Like I did last year I’ll be covering the festival as one of TCM’s Social Producers, promoting the festival via social media as well as making unique festival-centric playlists for you to listen to and enjoy if you’re on Spotify. The details on that are still in flux, but you’ll soon be able to listen to curated musical playlists to help you feel as if you’re at the festival, or to enjoy on your plane ride there and back! With that you’ll be able to come here to read trip reports, see videos and photos, and who knows what else.

But the big news is what’s already been released and teased if you follow me on Facebook and Twitter. Journeys in Classic Film 2.0 is coming and its in the form of Ticklish Business! Unlike Karina Longworth’s fantastic podcast, You Must Remember This, Ticklish Business will look at specific classic films, interview people associated with the industry, and more. The first episode will, hopefully, be up soon in anticipation of the TCM Classic Film Festival and I’m hoping it’ll be the premiere destination for those interested in learning more about classic cinema.

With the podcast comes a shiny new website which will be filled with not only podcast episodes but items that don’t necessarily look good here. WordPress users know of the limited storage capacity and general blog look of the site. The gallery format and other tricks over at Ticklish Business will allow me to post more photos and videos. Now, let me say that Journeys in Classic Film is NOT going anywhere. The reviews and written content will still be posted here, but you will be getting the occasional tease here with links to visit the real content at Ticklish Business.

Now, of course, if you like the new site and want JCF to post more items over there or, possibly, transfer everything completely to that site I’m willing to consider it. I’m really in limbo as to how to differentiate both sites, so I’m open to suggestions (always). Regardless, feel free to leave suggestions and comments, and even podcast episode suggestions. Right now, everything is a usable idea!

I look forward to seeing several of you at the TCM Classic Film Festival! Feel free to seek me out and give me your thoughts in person! Until then…
