The 2019 TCM Summer Under the Stars Blogathon
That’s right, everybody. It’s back! After a hiatus, I’m resurrecting the annual TCM Summer Under the Stars blogathon, and this year I’m taking on a partner: my Ticklish Business co-host Samantha Ellis. Samantha’s blog, Musings of a Classic Film Addict, will be working alongside Journeys in Classic Film to make this a spectacular blogging event.
Throughout every day in August, we’ll be posting links to your reviews, articles, lists, and essays on anything you can think of associated with Summer Under the Stars. All you have to do to enter is comment below with your blog name and the star(s) you’d like to put your name down for. Or you can email me at journeysinclassicfilm@gmail.com to sign up. Remember that with reviews we prefer you discuss a movie actually screening during that star’s day unless it’s a list or a wider essay discussing a star’s work. Don’t forget to copy/paste our artwork to show your participation on your website.
And in years past we will be giving away prizes! One lucky winner will be picked to get a Summer Under the Stars prize pack. Every article counts as an entry so the more you write, the more entries you get. If you don’t want to participate, have no fear. In conjunction with Sam and mine’s podcast, Ticklish Business, we’ll be running a secondary contest with a separate prize pack. And if you become a Ticklish Business Patron during the month of July you’ll get an advantage in the prizes, as well as some sweet merch and bonus content.
We’re so excited to bring this blogathon back! We’re eager to see what everyone comes up with.

Hey, Kristen!
Could I cover Dorothy McGuire? I’m thinking either A Summer Place, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, or The Enchanted Cottage. Also, I’d like to write about Irene Dunne in Love Affair, if possible.
Thank you!

This is such a great idea for a blogathon! And there’s prizes involved? How exciting! I’ll write a review for one of the films of Audrey Hepburn, Melvyn Douglas, Ann Sothern, and Mary Astor. May we write our reviews earlier than the listed dates? I recorded one of Audrey’s movies on my DVR and I was planning on reviewing the film earlier than August 18th.

I actually have one all created and ready to go (on MORITURI (1965)) to add to my ongoing Marlon Brando Series on Friday in honor of Brando’s SUTS day, but would love to include it in the blogathon, if that counts??

It’s great to see slightly obscure silent star, Leila Hyams, with her own Summer Under the Stars day. But it highlights the fact that the far better known and much bigger star and much loved, Bela Lugosi, was not similarly honored. Please think about this for next year
Good to have him in The Thirteenth Chair and Island of Lost Souls and will continue to wait for his own day.

Iām extremely disappointed in this years Summer Under the Stars! Showing ancient movies from the 1920ās and silent movies are not my cup of tea! Didnāt like half of the stars picked either! Thanks for letting me āsound offā.
