I’m showing my blindspots here again…
Kids… if it’s not silent comedy… or Rudolph Valentino, I’m a bit weak as it relates to the birth of the medium we all love.
My greatest knowledge of Ramon Novarro revolves around two things: Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ and my interest in true crime. In saying that, I will admit that I have very little to pull from as I think back on the actor’s career… not in a way which would do him the justice he deserves, that is. So with that, I can only say that I’m excited to tick off some first time watches off my list today!
What are you all waiting to see? Let me know in the comments.
If You Can Only Watch One:
Looking over the schedule, I’m forced to go with an unoriginal answer here and cite the essential…Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ of course! The silent epic airs during prime-time (8:00pm EST) and is wildly heralded for not only the famous chariot race sequence, but also as the basis for the 1959 Charlton Heston feature Ben-Hur. It is definitely a must-see for anyone looking to wet their whistle as it relates to silent cinema, as well as those who just like a good epic. This is one of the places where it all started!
