Summer Under the Stars- Jane Fonda (August 13th)
Some Reflection:
Love her or hate her, Jane Fonda is more than a legendary performer. She is an institution. With a family legacy that extends back to the 1930s thanks to her legendary father Henry, she’s made her own way and (despite plenty of struggles) has emerged as a legend in her own right. Few women have enjoyed such a long a storied career. There’s been ups and downs as well as missteps which she’s atoned for and come to peace with. However, through all the public scrutiny, she’s risen above it all to come out on top.
It’s Jane Fonda’s world and we’re all just living in it. Just get used to it.

If You Watch One Movie:
I really have no idea how to answer this question! There’s a ton of solid films airing throughout the day. However, I have to go with my pick in my TCM Top 11 and recommend Klute. The 1971 thriller partners her with the always formidable Donald Sutherland as a sex worker being terrorized by an unseen assailant. This is New Hollywood at its very best and Fonda was recognized with a Best Actress Oscar for her work in the film. If you’ve never watched this one, make sure to add it to your list when it hits TCM during primetime (10:15pm EST).
Though, with films like Sunday in New York, The China Syndrome, Klute and Barbarella filling the primetime line-up… y’all might as well just settle in for a night in front of the TV. There’s lots to enjoy.
