Summer Under the Stars- Gregory Peck (August 14th)
Some Reflection:
Gregory Peck is one of those actors many spring from the womb knowing. With a career that stretched decades… and roles in a great many essentials… Peck easily holds an important place in the pantheon of stardom. Many watched him in Roman Holiday or hid from the screen during The Omen. Few actors have demonstrated quite as much ability to hop across different genres with relative ease.

A Career in Review:
If You Can Only Watch One:
This is a hard, hard question. Looking at the TCM schedule, I must admit that my favorite Peck movies are not airing during this particular day… namely, Spellbound. However, fans of 1950s cinema should make time for The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit which airs in late night (11:00pm PST).
The 1956 drama is based on the book of the same name by Sloan Wilson and features Peck opposite Jennifer Jones and Fredric March. Regular readers may catch me referencing the work regularly across the pages of this site. The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit is an important cultural work with a tremendous amount of relevance to the struggles many were experiencing throughout the 1950s. I may be a bit ‘history teacher’ here, but for fans of the history of the middle of the twentieth century, it is an important watch.
