Blogathons, Awards, and Other Musings

Two posts in one day…wow that’s a record for me!  My entry for the day is my contribution to the My Movie Year Blogathon run by Andy over at Fandango Groovers so be sure to read that if you haven’t already!  This is just meant to be a general update and some thank you’s so feel free to ignore it…sad face.

First off, in case you didn’t read my review on The Dark Crystal (and since I’ve gotten a fair amount of comments on it hopefully you did) the tournament is pretty much being set to male actors.  I’m looking at doing a tournament on actors from the 1930s-1990s although if there’s enough fan output I’m inclined to include the 2000s.  I’m going to have five contenders from each decade and if you have specific actors you want me to include please comment on a post and I’ll be sure they’re included.

Next, blogathons, got a bunch of them coming up as evidenced by the banners on the side.  I’ve already mentioned I’ll be doing the Cinematic World Tour Blogathon at All Good Things during the summer.  I’m also joining the Best Hitchcock Films Hitchcock Never Made Blogathon via ClassicBecky’s Brain Food.  They’re two totally diverse blogathons and look to be fun.  If you’re a blogger who’d like to get involved please visit those websites.

Awards and Thank-Yous:  I’d like to thank the fine folks over at LAMB for officially making me a Lamb Member!  They’re the largest movie bloggers site out there and I highly recommend you check them out at http://www.largeassmovieblogs.com!  They seem to be giving the blog a fair amount of traffic already so thanks again!

I also got my first award courtesy of Tanya, blogger at Green Paw Paw.  It’s the Sunshine Award!  I’m super honored because I’ve seen so many awards given out to bloggers and always wanted one…it gives me a sense of validation and a massive ego!  There are rules to this award so here’s me fulfilling the requirements.  I’ve already included the picture and the shout-out to the blog who nominated me…thanks again!  I have to answer some questions as well as nominate five bloggers whose blogs put a smile on my face!

Favorite Color: Blue although a light blue  but not a sky blue.  I’ll know it when I see it…that kind of blue!

Favorite Animal: In the wild, sea otters!  They’re freaking adorable and they swim on their backs.  Domesticated, guinea pigs.  I have one, his name is Charlie Francis, and he makes those guinea pigs in G-Force look like little bitches!

Favorite Number: Well 1 is the loneliest number so that’s out and 5 is too big a party.  Let’s say 3 because it seemed to work out okay for Britney Spears in that song (I’m gonna get a lot of weird comments now).

Favorite Non-Alcoholic Drink: Coffee, Vanilla Coke (that is crack in a can)

Prefer Facebook or Twitter: Facebook baby!  Twitter confuses me, I don’t know what a hashtag is and you can’t see if someone’s trying to talk to you.

My Passion: Reading, classic films, writing (preferably on one of the first two).  Shopping.  Traveling and all things Disney!

Prefer Getting or Giving Presents: I know I should give the classy answer but getting…sorry.  I’m greedy when it comes to gifts sue me.

Favorite Pattern:  Seriously…what kind of question is that?  The Fibonacci Sequence?

Favorite Day of the Week: Tuesdays because that’s when new books come out and Fridays because that’s when new movies come out.

Favorite Flower: Tulips probably or whatever those little poofy ones are that you blow and they scatter (apparently Google calls them Dandelions)

Now to nominate the blogs that make me smile!

True Classics: A fantastic and in-depth blog devoted to all things classic films!

What is Ann Watching: An excellent television and film blog that has a great everyman feel because who needs more snooty and pretentious writers telling you what’s good or crappy?

The Warning Sign: Eric, the writer at The Warning Sign is incredibly nice (he gets kudos for offering to promote my tourney) and does a great blend of classic and contemporary film reviews.  I love voting on his weekly polls and he’s doing a Movie Project all year to watch more films.

Fandango Groovers Movie Blog:  Andy comes up with such great topics and blogathons that keep me coming back every day!

All Good Things: I discovered this blog knee-deep in their classic actress tournament and without the inspiration from this blog I’d never have been inspired to start my own!

Check them all out and love them.  Enjoy My Movie Year post and I’ll be back with another film review!  Thanks again for everyone’s encouragement and kind words!
